Hope at St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford
April 26, 2017
Hope is working at St Michael’s Hospice, Herefordshire to deliver its Children and Young People’s Support Services.
We are delighted to announce that Hope is now working at St Michael’s in Hereford to deliver its Children and Young People’s Service. We are also delighted to welcome Emma Speedy and Julia Bowcott on board who will be working alongside SammyJay to run the service. We are excited to be combining Emma and Julia’s wealth of experience and knowledge with our existing team working in the county to deliver an excellent and well-rounded service.
The Children and Young People’s Service is available to anyone aged 25 and under who has a close family member diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. It is a space for these young people to spend time with others going through a similar situation, share their experiences and provide peer support.
The Hope at St Michael’s team will be offering therapeutic, diversionary and skill building activities as well as respite trips and the chance to have a confidential one-to-one chat.
The service includes:
- A monthly club for 5-11 year-olds
- A monthly evening group for 11-16 year-olds
- A monthly evening group for 16-25 year-olds
- School holiday activities, trips and workshops for 5-11s, 12-16s and 17-25s
- One-to-one support for under-fives, primary-school aged children, teens and young adults
Sessions are run at St Michael’s but are not exclusive to young people with a family member at the hospice.
This is a really exciting development for Hope as it allows us to offer support for children in Herefordshire who are under the age of 11.
