Some FAQs
I’m stuck! What kind of things can I do to raise money?
A great way to start is by checking out JustGiving’s A-Z of Fundraising for some top ideas (in alphabetical order)! If you’re still stuck for ideas, we’d love to chat with you about it. Give us a call: 01989 566317 or send an email to lorna.russell@hopesupport.org.uk.
How will my fundraising help?
Hope is entirely self-funded, so the money that you raise really will make a difference to us. Take a look at what £12.50, £30, £50 and £72 could provide our young people, click here to see how your money can help.
Can I have some Hope flyers and posters so that people know what my event is for?
Yes! Either pop into the office, or get in touch and let us know how many you would like and how we can get them to you. Please return any extra leaflets you don’t use as we can reuse them and reduce our costs.
You can also download your own posters from FundraizingHero – just pop your event details in, and they’ll send you your very own free fundraising pack!
I want to do a collection for Hope at my event. Can I have some collection tins?
Yes! You’ll need to pop into the office to collect them, as unfortunately they are too big to send in the post. You can find our address here.
If you’re a bit further away or feeling crafty, some of the free packs you can get from FundraizingHero have a template for a fold up cardboard tin you can make yourself.
I’d like to run a raffle for hope, is this as easy as it sounds?
A raffle can be a great money-raiser. However, there are some serious legal points to consider before you run a raffle, such as pricing regulations, prize requirements and licenses.
If you’d like to talk it through with us, we’d be more than happy to chat with you. Give Lorna a call at the Hope office: 01989 566317.
How can I spread the word about my event?
There are loads of ways to get the word out! You could think about the following…
- Share your event and JustGiving page (if you have one) via your social media pages
- Get your own personalised, free fundraising pack from FundraizingHero full of posters, Zoom backgrounds and everything else you might need.
- Send an email around your work and friends, explaining what you are doing and why (don’t forget to include the link to your fundraising page if you have one).
- For the more creative out there, why not make a video diary of your progress and share it via social media or email? People love to see behind-the-scenes footage and hear about the personal trials, challenges and inspiration behind your fundraising. From your first training sessions to your gold medal moment, you’ll build momentum and support along way.
- Tell everyone at your local clubs, groups you’re involved in, coffee shops you’re a regular at etc.
- Put some posters up around town and hand flyers out.
- Feeling brave? Your local radio stations may be happy to interview you and publicise your event to all their listeners! Be sure to mention the reasons behind your fundraising event and what is motivating you get involved.
- Send press releases and photos to your local papers.
We will happily publicise your event on Hope’s Facebook and Twitter pages and award you the eternal stardom you deserve! If you can, be sure to send us photos to help us promote your fundraising efforts really effectively.
